I founded and host this poetry initiative.
In September 2017, with the support and love from Jane Turner and her team at Gertrude and Alice Bookstore in Bondi, Sydney – Poetica was born. In 2019, after Poetica literally grew out of the bookstore space, Poetica moved its nights to Bondi Bowling Club and other larger venues.
Poetica now has a little sister too – Poetica Petit – a more intimate night of words and music. In partnership with Woollahra Council Poetica Petit is held in the newly refurbished Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf at the Cultural Hub. The Hub opens out into the picturesque harbourside Blackburn Gardens, historically the venue for the Council’s annual Poets Picnic. On the first Thursday of every month there will be a feature poet and musician and I interview the feature poet live about their craft and poetry life. There is also an open mic section.
POETICA is a night for wordsmithing.
